Now is your opportunity to join one of NYC’s newest destination hotels in the heart of Manhattan. You bring your passion and hospitable personality, and we’ll bring the good vibes. We are seeking an engaged and experienced Uniform/Seamstress Attendant in providing exceptional customer service and exceptional experiences to our internal guests.

As an integral part of the successful operation of the hotel, the Uniform/Seamstress Attendant will alter, repair, clean, maintain and exercise control over all aspects of the employee uniforms ensuring all items are in excellent condition, make repairs as necessary and ensure all unforms are logged when sent out for cleaning and upon return to property.

Duties to include, but not limited to;

Job Description

  • Inventory all employee uniforms and prepare orders for such.
  • Issue uniforms to new employees and receives uniforms from terminated employed and relays such information to personnel.
  • Make necessary alterations to uniforms to ensure proper fit and presentation.
  • Make the best use of damaged linens by sewing them into usable products.
  • Control the cleaning and issuance of uniforms and maintain records for current employees.
  • Ensure that all laundry sent out is handled properly and returned to the uniform room as dictated by policy.
  • Utilize various sewing techniques
  • Perform other sewing tasks as necessary
  • Deliver various items within hotel
  • Provide exceptional guest interactions and experiences
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to communicate (written and verbal) in English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Computer skills; strong working knowledge/capabilities with MS Office software

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years seamstress experience making alterations/tailoring by hand-sewing and utilizing commercial grade sewing machines.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in full-service hotels
  • Local candidates only
  • U.S. Citizenship/Work Authorization required
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to effectively perform all essential tasks of role
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds without restrictions.

Physical Requirements and working conditions:

  • Ability to speak and hear. Close and distance vision. Frequent sitting with some walking and standing.
  • Frequently lifts /carries up to 25 lbs.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Identify and distinguish colors
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Reach hands and arms in any direction
  • Kneel and/or stoop repeatedly
