Job Summary:

The Uniform Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation of the uniform room, assisting the Assistant Laundry Operations Manager; making repairs and minor alterations to uniforms, and receiving and issuing uniforms.

The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: November 2026 to March 2027Pay: $21.00/hourSchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, trains and motivates uniform room employees on procedures, policies, equipment safety and chemical use.
  • Provides continuous verbal performance feedback, coaching as needed for employee performance improvement. Completes documentation of coaching and disciplinary action in accordance with company policy. Provides written feedback using company evaluation forms.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate files and records on all aspects of the operation.
  • Provides excellent service to uniform room customers.
  • Greets employees, managers, and directors at the uniform room counter and provides them with uniforms required for their positions quickly, efficiently, accurately, and professionally.
  • Manages incoming telephone calls, passing messages and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Completes required URF's (uniform return forms) promptly and accurately according to laundry procedures. Enters uniform issue data into a computerized database according to laundry procedures.
  • Monitors and fulfills uniform orders via Smartsheet tracking system. Trains uniform staff on utilizing Smartsheet system.
  • Repairs damaged clothing and uniforms, including hand and machine sewing, replacement of buttons and zippers, and other repairs as needed.
  • Performs minor alterations, including hemming pants and sleeves.
  • Operates sewing machines and hand irons.
  • Meets or exceeds production and quality standards
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area according to laundry policy.
  • Conducts and assists with keeping track of inventory and places orders as needed.
  • Assists when needed in laundry operations.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Sewing and clothing repair skills, including the use of industrial sewing machines, hemming sleeves and pants, minor repairs, installing zippers, etc.\
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately.
  • Business communication skills, including professional telephone manner, clear, concise, and professional written communication.
  • Organizational skills include the ability to work with items in queue, managing sewing supplies, prioritizing and scheduling tasks.
  • Mechanical ability, including the ability to operate and make routine adjustments to a sewing machine and associated equipment.
  • Competency in basic arithmetic and the ability to count inventories, compare actual vs. required amounts, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cloudsuite and Kronos software helpful.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software, including:
  • navigating local and network file systems,
  • locating and creating network shortcuts,
  • locating and saving files in designated locations with standardized file names,
  • using Outlook to read and send email,
  • using Excel to record data.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Should be at least 19 years old; possession of a valid US driver's license is preferred.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching outward and above the shoulder for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Requires occasional climbing, crawling, and squatting/kneeling up to 3 hours per shift.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 35 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to wear hearing protection for up to 3 hours per shift.
