Primary Objectives:

The Corporate Underwriter promotes underwriting excellence and ensures compliance with the organization's underwriting risk appetite through the review and handling of Corporate Underwriting (CU) referral accounts and portfolios in accordance with established guidelines.

This role provides underwriting support to the Treaty, Strategy, and New Products teams, contributes to the development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines and policy forms, supports underwriting audit activities, and assists with research initiatives to enhance underwriting standards. The Corporate Underwriter also supports the ongoing management of Corporate Underwriting SharePoint tools to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

Review Head Office underwriting referrals, determine appropriate underwriting actions, and establish follow-up outcomes in alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite

Perform underwriting audits to assess compliance with established underwriting guidelines, authorities, and procedures

Assist in the review, development, and creation of unique policy formats and coverage wordings in support of business and product needs

Assist with the management, maintenance, and accuracy of various Corporate Underwriting SharePoint tracking tools and repositories

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance underwriting workflows, processes, and administrative efficiency

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education required; college diploma or university degree preferred, ideally in business, finance, insurance, or a related field

Actively pursuing or completion of the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or an equivalent insurance credential is a strong asset

4+ years of Equipment Breakdown underwriting experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-focused approach

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across underwriting, strategy, treaty, and product teams

Our base salary range for this role is between $99,450 and $116,025 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.

This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
