As of Jul 29, 2026, the average weekly pay for under 21 cdl in the United States is $1,406.67, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $1,153.85 and $1,663.46 per week, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What company in Texas is paying truckers $14000 a week?

There are no widely verified companies offering truck drivers under 21 salaries of $14,000 per week. High earnings in trucking typically depend on experience, routes, and freight type, but such high weekly pay is uncommon and may be associated with specialized or owner-operator roles. Job seekers should research reputable companies and ensure compliance with licensing and safety regulations for under-21 drivers.

Can you get a CDL job at 19?

To work as a commercial driver with a CDL, most states require applicants to be at least 21 years old for interstate driving, but some states allow 19-year-olds to obtain a CDL for intrastate routes. Candidates must pass written and skills tests, and often need to meet specific state regulations and obtain necessary endorsements. Age restrictions vary by state and type of driving, so check local DMV requirements for detailed information.

Can I be a truck driver at 21?

Yes, you can be a truck driver at 21. The minimum age to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and drive interstate freight is 21 in most states, though some may allow intrastate driving at 18. Completing a CDL training program and passing the required exams are necessary steps to become a truck driver at this age.

What is the youngest age you can get a CDL?

The minimum age to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is 18 years old for intrastate driving and 21 years old for interstate driving. Applicants must pass written and skills tests, meet medical requirements, and hold a valid driver's license. Some states offer a restricted CDL for drivers aged 18-20 for specific types of driving within state lines.

What is an Under 21 CDL job?

An Under 21 CDL job is a commercial driving position available to individuals under the age of 21 who hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). These jobs typically involve intrastate driving, meaning drivers can only operate within the boundaries of their state due to federal regulations. Common roles include delivery truck driving, construction vehicle operation, and regional transportation for local businesses. Many use these jobs to gain experience before qualifying for interstate driving at age 21.

What types of routes and assignments are typically available to Under 21 CDL drivers?

Under 21 CDL drivers are generally limited to intrastate (within one state) routes, as federal regulations restrict commercial drivers under 21 from operating across state lines. Assignments may include delivering goods to local retailers, warehouses, or distribution centers, often with set schedules and return-to-base routes. Some positions may focus on short-haul freight, specialized deliveries, or supporting larger operations by handling local pickups and drop-offs. Working closely with dispatch teams, Under 21 CDL drivers gain hands-on experience in route planning and vehicle inspections, building a foundation for long-term career growth in the transportation industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Under 21 Cdl position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Under 21 CDL driver, you need a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) that adheres to regulations for drivers under age 21, a clean driving record, and a solid understanding of safety procedures and transport regulations. Familiarity with vehicle inspection protocols, GPS navigation systems, and electronic logging devices (ELDs) is expected. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and excellent communication skills are valuable assets for working with dispatchers and customers. These skills and qualifications ensure safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, and efficient transportation services, which are critical for building a strong reputation early in a professional driving career.
