Position Summary
The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center's mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training, and outreach.
In partnership with the UNC Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Medical and Research Directors, the UNC AYA Program Manager leads strategy and execution for the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program setting the program's agenda, driving operational excellence, and ensuring day to day infrastructure supports short- and long-term goals.
The UNC AYA Cancer Program is an interprofessional program that delivers developmentally appropriate psychosocial and medical care for AYA patients and their support communities, advances AYA cancer research, educates providers statewide, and strengthens the delivery of high-quality AYA cancer care across North Carolina and beyond.
This role provides day to day program leadership, including strategic planning and implementation, cross disciplinary coordination, team mentorship, financial development support, and performance monitoring/reporting to ensure measurable progress toward program objectives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a relevant healthcare discipline (e.g., Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to synthesize information, solve problems, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing AYA cancer care and/or the mission of the UNC AYA Cancer Program, including a service-oriented approach to improving care and outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience working in cancer care and/or Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) oncology settings or programs.
- Experience navigating complex health systems, including strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to quality improvement and/or fundraising/development activities.
- 5+ years of post-degree professional experience, with 2+ years of demonstrated leadership experience ideally coordinating, leading, or organizing a multidisciplinary team.
- Clinical background and/or current licensure (as applicable), and/or relevant advanced training or education (e.g., Nursing, MBA, Social Work, Health Psychology, or related field).
- Strong preference for team leadership experience in a healthcare setting, including cross-functional coordination and operational follow-through.
