Job Summary
The Supervisor, Environmental Services Worker focuses on Infection Control and Prevention to avoid Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) by daily rounding areas and assessing proper cleaning, sanitation and hand washing within the organization.
Reports to: Manager, Environmental Services
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Facilitate training and development of environmental services staff
• Ensure quality cleanliness and appearance of assigned areas (patient rooms, public, and ancillary areas)
• Perform area inspections to evaluate and monitor quality performance, efficiency, customer satisfaction and infection control standards.
• Assist in controlling and monitoring all chemicals, supplies, and equipment, maintaining current record documentation
• Evaluate, counsel, train, and provide employee engagement for maximum performance
• All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• +3 years environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
• +1 year of demonstrated success leading people and processes
• Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and operating procedures in all areas of environmental services

Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement in decision making
• Effective communication and ability to interact appropriately with people of all backgrounds
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of basic office equipment including but not limited to calculator, adding machine, computer, etc...
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Works regularly around patients and customers within the facility. Interacts regularly with Environmental Services employees under their direct supervision. Interacts regularly with visitors in facility. Interacts regularly with facility staff and administrative personnel.
Physical Capabilities
Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is high risk.
