Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time UCHC Technician I for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center located in Avenel, NJ. The UCHC Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.
Among the duties for this position are:
  • Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
  • Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
  • Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

  • Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid Driver's License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another
