Job Title: Urinalysis Technician
Job Summary
The Urinalysis Technician is responsible for observing, collecting, processing, and analyzing urine specimens to support clinical testing and diagnostic services. This role ensures accurate results by following laboratory protocols, maintaining equipment, and adhering to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect urine specimens following established procedures and patient identification protocols
  • Perform routine urinalysis testing
  • Operate and maintain UA instruments and analyzers used in urinalysis
  • Accurately document test results in EHR information systems
  • Observe, Identify, troubleshoot, and report abnormal results
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper stocking of the UA work area
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines (CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA)
  • Assist with quality control, calibration, and proficiency testing as required
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, supervisors, and healthcare providers
  • Orders UA kits to be sent to clients
  • Additional duties as requested

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or equivalent
  • Previous laboratory or urinalysis experience preferred
  • Knowledge of urinalysis procedures and laboratory safety practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols
  • Basic computer skills and experience with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to handle biological specimens with care and professionalism
