This student assistant job posting is unique as multiple campuses (Bristol Bay Campus, Chukchi Campus, Kuskokwim Campus, and Northwest Campus) within the College of Indigenous Studies may be hiring from this pool of applicants. The posting is designed to aid in filling an unexpected vacancy or an urgent need on a part-time or full-time, temporary basis.
The student assistant role demands proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database applications for effective data management and internet-based research. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential, alongside adherence to confidentiality protocols. Familiarity with general office procedures, including accurate typing and filing, is crucial. Operating office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and computers is expected. Strong communication skills are necessary for occasional public interactions. Overall, the student assistant ensures smooth administrative operations by combining technical skills with meticulous attention to detail and effective communication, supporting organizational goals effectively.
To thrive in this student assistant role, one must excel in maintaining confidentiality and security, possess strong general office and clerical skills (including typing and filing), be proficient with office equipment, and demonstrate exceptional communication abilities for interactions with the public. Attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive approach are also key to succeeding in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled with a minimum of 6 credit hours and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Position Details:
New hires will be placed on the UA student salary schedule , based on education and experience. Please note that based on geographic location and knowledge, skills, and abilities, the hiring authority for the position may negotiate a higher rate to ensure fair and equitable compensation.
