Job description

If you've spent time in the trades and you're ready to take those skills to a new place and support important public safety initiatives, this role is for you!
MRR is hiring Field Technicians to work hands-on with mechanical systems, piping, tanks, pumps, valves, and controls at job sites across the U.S. Every project is different, and your trade experience gives you a strong head start.
About MRR
MRR is an industry‑defining partner in gas odorization, trusted across North America for expertise, safety, and solutions that endure.  Our teams of experts work with intention and precision, applying deep technical understanding to ensure every system is safe, compliant, and built to last.
With decades of complex, real‑world problem‑solving under our belt, we’re the team called in when conditions are tough and solutions must be engineered, not improvised.
If you want to grow your technical career with a company where Where Standards are Set™ is the expectation, not a slogan, MRR is the place to do it.
No experience in gas odorization? That's expected. We provide full training. What we're looking for is solid trade fundamentals, a safety-first mindset, and someone comfortable working in the field.
What You’ll Do
  • Install, remove, and maintain odorization systems including tanks, piping, tubing, pumps, sensors, and fittings.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Work with pressurized systems, valves, and fluid transfer equipment.
  • Safely transfer odorants and assist with spill response when needed.
  • Support natural gas pipeline pickling and commissioning projects.
  • Read and interpret mechanical diagrams and schematics.
  • Complete work orders, DOT documentation, and field reports using a tablet.
  • Travel to project sites across the U.S. by vehicle or air.
Who You Are
Required qualifications:
  • Completion of post-secondary technical school or college program in mechanical or electrical engineering, pipefitting, HVAC or equivalent trade experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings, piping layouts, or schematics.
  • Physically capable of working outdoors and on your feet.
  • Safety-minded with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Comfortable using basic technology for documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

Backgrounds that translate especially well:
  • Oil and gas field operations or instrumentation.
  • HVAC installation or service.
  • Welding, pipefitting, or fabrication.
  • Mechanical or industrial maintenance.
  • Utilities, construction, or industrial trades.

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay plus per diem for travel days.
  • Structured career progression with pay increases at each level.
  • Full technical training in natural gas odorization.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • IRA retirement plan.
  • A stable, safety-focused company with a supportive team culture.
  • Work out of a brand-new facility in Philippi, WV
