Job description
At Texas Children's, every patient deserves safe, high-quality care. As Clinical Accreditation Specialist, part of our Quality & Outcomes Management team, you'll play an important role in ensuring our teams are prepared to meet the highest standards for patient care, regulatory compliance, and accreditation.
This role brings together clinical expertise, quality improvement, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration to help Texas Children's remain continuously survey-ready and focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
As a trusted clinical and regulatory resource, you'll partner with nurses, physicians, clinical teams, and leaders across the organization to evaluate care delivery, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen high-risk clinical processes.
You'll:
- Lead and participate in mock surveys, clinical tracers, patient care observations, and regulatory readiness activities across Texas Children's.
- Help prepare teams for Joint Commission, CMS, Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC), and specialty accreditation surveys.
- Participate in unannounced surveys, providing education and support before, during, and after the survey process.
- Evaluate clinical practices and workflows related to areas such as medication management, infection prevention, patient identification, clinical documentation, handoff communication, and restraint management.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and partner with leaders to develop and monitor action plans.
- Serve as a consultant and subject matter expert to clinical and operational leaders on accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, patient safety, and evidence-based practices.
- Develop and deliver education, presentations, newsletters, and other resources to help teams stay informed and prepared.
- Collaborate with leaders and multidisciplinary teams to improve survey readiness and the overall patient care experience.
- Support new and existing clinical surveys by helping coordinate communication, stakeholder engagement, and survey logistics.
- Participate in committees, special projects, and initiatives that support quality and patient safety across the organization.
Why This Role Matters
Survey readiness is about more than passing an inspection. It's about creating an environment where safe, high-quality care is part of how we work every day.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to influence clinical practice across a leading pediatric health system, work alongside passionate healthcare professionals, and help identify opportunities that ultimately improve outcomes for children and families.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a clinically experienced nurse who is curious, collaborative, and passionate about quality and patient safety.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Active RN license through the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact
- At least 2 years of experience in clinical, quality, and/or accreditation settings
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, and Texas HHSC regulations
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with leaders and multidisciplinary teams
Join a Team That Helps Set the Standard
If you're an experienced RN who enjoys solving problems, educating others, improving processes, and helping healthcare teams deliver their best work, this is an opportunity to make an impact well beyond a single patient encounter.
Bring your clinical expertise to a role where quality, safety, and continuous improvement are at the center of everything you do.
