Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, with night shift availability and the ability to titrate drips.

Details
  • Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a Level II Trauma facility
  • 35-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4โ€“5, supported by nursing aides/patient care techs at a 1:10 ratio
  • RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
  • Charge nurse present on each shift
  • EMR: Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts (1830โ€“0700)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every third holiday required
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
  • 20-week contract
Requirements
  • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license โ€” active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS โ€” pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as determined by the address on their driver's license
  • Candidates may not be currently or recently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Orientation consists of one week of onboarding followed by 1โ€“2 days of unit-specific floor orientation
  • RNs will complete a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation and must score at least 90% to continue โ€” failure to pass results in contract termination
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
  • RTO must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week period; additional RTO will not be approved
  • This is a fast-paced unit โ€” successful candidates demonstrate a positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving abilities
