Digital Content Reporter/Traffic Anchor

Are you passionate about local news, have a confident on-camera presence, understand SEO strategy and how to reach an audience on social media? If so, you could be a great fit for our Digital Content Reporter/Traffic Anchor. This position combines the energy of live digital reporting, early evening on-air traffic anchoring, and creative multimedia storytelling. The ideal candidate will use strong digital instincts and real-time reporting skills to deliver accurate, timely traffic and news content first across all platforms, while also contributing to our early evening newscasts as a trusted traffic anchor.

The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced newsroom, collaborates seamlessly with anchors, reporters, producers, and digital editors, and understands how to connect with audiences in meaningful ways-on TV, web, mobile, streaming, and social media.

Roles & Responsibilities:ย 

  • Strong storytelling, writing, and script-editing skills
  • Serve as traffic anchor for early evening newscasts, delivering, clear, accurate, and engaging traffic reports on air
  • Capture, edit, and publish timely, engaging content for all digital platforms (website, app, social).
  • Work alongside newsroom staff to adapt on-air stories for digital audiences and create original digital-only coverage.
  • Experiment with creative storytelling formats-short-form video, live streaming, interactive content-to reach new viewers.
  • Maintain brand consistency while embracing platform-specific tone and style.
  • Collaborate closely with reporters, anchors, and the digital team to identify and develop stories tailored for digital audiences.
  • Produce platform-optimized videos, graphics, and written content that go beyond what's aired on TV.
  • Support audience growth and retention by creating shareable, compelling content designed for social media and our website.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in digital content production, journalism, or broadcasting
  • Comfortable appearing on camera in live or recorded formats
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and script-editing skills
  • Proficient with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), graphic tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop), and content management systems
  • Deep understanding of current digital trends, social media algorithms, and audience engagement techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to thrive under deadline pressure and juggle multiple priorities
  • Related military experience will be considered

Preferred:

  • Experience in a newsroom or media environment
  • Knowledge of SEO, AP Style, and digital publishing best practices
  • Familiarity with livestreaming tools and platforms (e.g., Streamyard, OBS)
