Job Summary/Description:
Connecticut's #1 TV station is looking for a News Producer with a vision, a passion, and a plan. You'll spend your day crafting a newscast and collaborating with a newsroom team that's more like a family -- to make the on-air magic happen. Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Produce daily newscast
- Conceptualize newscast rundown
- Collaborate with EP, field crews, and assignment desk to determine content of newscast
- Write scripts
- Research stories
- Pitch story ideas
- Participate in editorial meetings
- Preview material before air
- Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements
- Create compelling graphics
- Incorporate and coordinate breaking news
- Work to constantly improve and evolve the look and execution of newscasts
- Execute the show from the control room
- Meet all show timing requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience: One to two years of producing or production support experience for a television, cable, or college station.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience using ENPS, internet production tools, and Edius is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule and work as a member of a team.
- Must possess an advanced understanding of newscast presentation.
- Must possess excellent writing and graphics skills with the ability to provide an interesting and substantive product.
- Must be results-oriented.
- Ability to focus on coordination of daily and long-range segments from first contact to on-air products. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
- Previous experience with script writing and editorial experience preferred.
- 10 % Travel Required (Approximate)
