  • Pitch stories and segment ideas regularly
  • Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources
  • Select the strongest possible elements to tell stories
  • Write, organize, and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments or packages
  • Assist in preparing and executing live television newscasts
  • Keep the Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of story developments
  • Assist in the control room if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer, Senior Producer, or network leadership
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer, Senior Producers, and Line Producer to ensure accurate and compelling broadcasts
Requirements
  • Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
  • Experience covering politics and government
  • Strong news judgment
  • Quick decision maker and creative thinker
  • Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels
  • Collaborative team player who advocates for their show and elevates network reporting
