Job description

Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is one of the industry's leading content providers, producing programming worldwide across genres and platforms. As the largest independent TV studio in the industry, SPTS produces 50+ shows each year including THE BOYS,PLURIBUS, THE GOOD DOCTOR, OUTLANDER, and PLATONIC. SPTS is part of the larger Sony Pictures Television (SPT) division. SPT is a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Group Corporation.

The Social Writer/Producer is a hands-on, multi-hyphenate creative responsible for ideating, capturing, editing, and delivering social-first content for Sony Pictures Television Studios' slate of series. Reporting to the Executive Director, Social Creative, this role sits at the intersection of storytelling, production, and platform fluency-translating scripted IP into culturally relevant, high-performing social content.

This individual is equal parts writer, producer, and editor: someone who can read a script and instantly spot social moments, pitch concepts with confidence, capture content on set with talent, and turn that material into polished, platform-native assets at speed. The ideal candidate has strong creative instincts, technical proficiency, and the ability to uphold brand voice in a demanding, fast-paced studio environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read scripts, episode cuts, and creative materials to identify social-first storylines, moments, and opportunities that extend series narratives and build fandom.
  • Concept, pitch, and execute social ideas that feel native to platforms while remaining authentic to each show's voice and tone.
  • Capture high-quality, compelling social content on set, during press days, and at events, working directly with talent and creatives.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews and talent interactions, asking smart, engaging questions that unlock personality, humor, and insight.
  • Write, produce, shoot, and edit short-form video content optimized for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Translate Sony Pictures Television Studios' social brand voice into day-to-day content execution across multiple series.
  • Deliver assets quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high creative and technical standard.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Social Creative and broader Creative Marketing teams to align content with series and studio strategy.
  • Work alongside production, publicity, and franchise partners to ensure smooth on-set workflows and approvals.
  • Track performance and engagement, using insights to refine creative approaches and inform future concepts.
  • Support major campaigns, premieres, and cultural moments with reactive, timely social content.
  • Maintain organized workflows, asset management, and versioning across multiple active shows.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience as a social writer, producer, or content creator in entertainment, streaming, digital media, or agency environments.
  • Proven ability to concept, shoot, and edit short-form video content end-to-end.
  • Strong writing skills with a clear understanding of voice, tone, and comedic or emotional timing.
  • Hands-on experience capturing content on set and working directly with talent.
  • Deep familiarity with social platforms, trends, formats, and audience behaviors.
  • High level of proficiency in editing tools (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut, After Effects, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working in live production environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to take creative direction while contributing original ideas.
  • Passion for television, pop culture, and social storytelling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media, Communications, Advertising, or equivalent professional experience.

Ideal Traits (Not Required, but Valued)

  • Comfortable being on camera or directing talent in unscripted moments.
  • Strong instincts for meme culture, humor, and internet-native storytelling.
  • Experience working across multiple series simultaneously.
  • A creator mindset paired with studio-level professionalism and discretion.
