Location
In-home tutoring throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia (DMV area). Tutors must live in or near the region and have reliable transportation.
Schedule
- Primarily weekday evenings (4-10 PM) and weekends
- Minimum commitment: 8 tutoring hours/week (example: 1-2 weekday evenings + one weekend day)
- You control your availability; we match you with families that fit your schedule

Who Thrives Here
- Scored 96th percentile or higher on the SAT and/or ACT
- 2+ years of successful SAT/ACT tutoring experience
- Genuinely enjoy connecting with teenagers and celebrating their wins
- Extremely reliable, organized, and responsive (this is non-negotiable; we protect our reputation fiercely)
- Excited to be part of a collaborative team rather than a lone-wolf freelancer

Compensation & Benefits

- Starting pay: $55-$88/hour (experienced SAT/ACT tutors start at the higher end)
- Top performers with tenure regularly reach $90-$100+/hour
- Travel bonus for sessions >30 minutes from your home

- Clear path to expand into AP subjects, academic tutoring, or leadership roles
- Bonuses and raises tied to student outcomes and family feedback
- Keep earning with Top Score remotely if you ever relocate
Requirements
- Reliable car and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
- Minimum 2-year commitment strongly preferred (many of our best tutors stay 4-8+ years and transition to remote work when they move)
- Evening/weekend availability
Why Top Tutors Choose Top Score
- Higher pay than almost any other local company or private arrangement
- Students who are motivated and supported by involved parents
- A training program that actually makes you a dramatically better tutor
- A collegial, drama-free team of smart, kind educators
