We’re hiring a Retail Store Supervisor to Live. Work. Explore. just one mile from the entrance to the iconic south rim of Grand Canyon National Park!

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Area Retail Manager, Operations Manager, or Area Manager in Tusayan, this role oversees assigned retail unit(s), including day-to-day operations, staff management, and merchandising standards.

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Start: September 2026 
Pay: $17.65 per hour

Schedule: Typical schedule is 32-40 hours, 5 days per week (includes weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Fully understands and supports Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal, both in how work is conducted and when interacting with guests.
  • Maintains open communications with sales associates, project positive image at all times while on duty, assists with guest service and continually impart product knowledge and sales techniques to staff.
  • Schedules and supervises store staff; Coordinate with Retail Manager all scheduling tasks for staff, and self, for operations at all outlets, including electronic timekeeping tracking and daily store tasks.
  • Coordinate with Retail Manager to conduct merchandise cycle counts and inventory investigations for loss control and shrink reduction.
  • Assist Retail Manager in an effort to maintain labor budget throughout the year.
  • Ensures that displays are properly maintained and that items are stocked for sale and properly priced. Work closely with Visual Display personnel on displays to ensure company standards are met.
  • In conjunction with Retail Manager, maintain timely, positive and effective communication with Corporate Buying and Regional Retail Directors, to ensure a well-run and stocked store based on business demands.
  • Oversee ordering for items such as, snack food/sundries and beverage supply orders, vendor fill orders, etc...
  • Oversees daily cashier deposits, and assist cashiers as necessary with POS system, maintaining all Accounting & Retail policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper opening and closing procedures and side duties are completed.
  • Maintains high levels of cleanliness ensuring all, policies and procedures are followed at all times. Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping during all seasons of the year inside and outside, including floors, displays, windows, lighting, vents and entryways; report maintenance issues as they are found.
  • Ensures staff receive training including Accounting, Environmental Health and Safety, Sustainability and any refresher training needed.
  • Welcomes new staff; train store objectives, procedures, and policies with new employees.
  • Assists in preparation and completion of annual retail store inventories and, as needed, correct inventory discrepancies or any requests from Accounting.
  • Assists Human Resources with housing inspections as needed.
  • Assists employees with Trading Post housing related maintenance requests, follows up to ensure requests are addressed and reported using the proper channels.
  • Adhere to all prescribed Company, statutory/regulatory policies, programs and procedures and ensure departmental adherence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • One-year retail supervisory experience in a high-volume retail store.
  • Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License, and/or obtain an AZ Driver’s License within 90 days of hire date; must comply with the Xanterra Tusayan, LLC Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Advanced computer skills with ability to effectively use and/or learn any necessary software related to topics such as MS Office programs (Word and Excel), Smartsheet, timekeeping, procurement, Retail specific suite software to manage all aspect of operations, and all other company assigned software.
  • Excellent communication (oral or written), comprehension (provide and understand direction), and reasoning (problem solving and troubleshooting) skills.
  • Fully trained and able to work at all Xanterra Tusayan Retail Outlets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in product display, product ordering, inventory control and loss control procedures, both electronically and physically.
  • Computerized POS system experience including training and troubleshooting.
  • Basic accounting skills and extensive cash handling/deposit experience.

Physical Requirements include:

Constantly: stand and walk, lift/carry up to 10 lbs.

Frequently: lift/carry up to 10 lbs., and push/pull up to 12 lbs.

Occasionally: sit, squat/kneel, bend, crawl, climb, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., and push pull up to 100 lbs.
