Position Purpose: The Turret Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a turret forklift to put away, retrieve, replenish, and move product throughout the warehouse. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory, maximizing warehouse space, and ensuring products are stored and handled according to company safety and operational standards.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled warehouse environment.
Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Safely operate turret forklifts and other warehouse equipment as authorized and trained.
  • Perform put-away, replenishment, picking, staging, and product movement activities.
  • Retrieve product from elevated rack locations while maintaining control of the equipment and load.
  • Accurately identify product, locations, quantities, and pallet information.
  • Use RF scanners, warehouse management systems, or other technology to complete transactions and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Verify product and location information before moving or storing inventory.
  • Safely maneuver equipment through narrow aisles and congested warehouse areas.
  • Maintain proper pallet placement and ensure product is securely stored in rack locations.
  • Inspect pallets, product, racks, and equipment and report damaged or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Follow all facility safety procedures, including pedestrian awareness, speed limits, equipment inspection requirements, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and promptly address spills, debris, damaged pallets, or other hazards.
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies, damaged product, equipment issues, and other operational concerns to leadership.
  • Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
  • Support receiving, shipping, replenishment, and other warehouse functions as business needs require.
  • Meet established productivity, quality, safety, and attendance expectations.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and food safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety is a primary responsibility of this position. The Turret Operator is expected to:
  • Complete required equipment training and certification before operating equipment independently.
  • Conduct required pre-shift equipment inspections.
  • Immediately report equipment damage, rack damage, product damage, or unsafe working conditions.
  • Follow all powered industrial truck (PIT) and warehouse safety procedures.
  • Maintain safe operating distances from pedestrians and other equipment.
  • Never operate equipment in an unsafe manner or outside of authorized operating procedures.
  • Wear required PPE and cold-weather protective equipment when working in temperature-controlled areas.

This position operates in a warehouse and cold-storage environment and may involve exposure to refrigerated and freezer temperatures. The position requires regular operation of powered industrial equipment, work around other warehouse associates and equipment, and adherence to strict safety and food-handling requirements.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 6 months of warehouse and/or distribution experience required; previous turret forklift experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate a turret forklift and other powered industrial equipment after completing required training and certification.
Ability to read and understand product labels, warehouse locations, instructions, and basic documentation.
Basic computer and RF scanner skills, or the ability to learn warehouse management systems and technology.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work the assigned schedule, including required overtime as business needs dictate.
Ability to work in multi-temperature environments, including dry, cooler, and freezer areas.
Ability to pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check, consistent with company policy and applicable law.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, climb, and maneuver throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
Ability to repeatedly enter and exit warehouse equipment throughout the shift.
Ability to lift, stack, pull, and replenish product from shelves and rack locations at varying heights.
Ability to regularly handle products weighing approximately 10-35 pounds and, depending on the location and assignment, occasionally up to approximately 60-90 pounds.
Ability to safely operate a turret forklift at elevated rack heights and maneuver equipment through narrow aisles.
Ability to work safely in cold and freezer environments for extended periods while wearing required protective equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 1+ years of warehouse and/or distribution work experience using a turret
Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
Active equipment certification for forklift and/or turret
