Job description

About Us

Turnkey is developer-first infrastructure for private key management, making it simple to create wallets, sign transactions, and automate on-chain actions through one elegant API, without ever exposing sensitive key material. Founded by the team who scaled Coinbase Custody from zero to a $100M+ ARR business and helped protect over $100B in crypto assets, Turnkey is tackling crypto security at its foundational level. Our mission is to make strong cryptography the default across the open internet the same way AWS made scalable computing the default for software.

Our team is low-ego, high-agency, and high-autonomy, with a significant amount of combined experience in cryptography, security, and low-level systems. We're building the trustless, programmable infrastructure that will power the next wave of mass-market crypto applications and we're looking for people who want to shape what that future looks like.

Your role

Turnkey's product is technically deep - developers building on our APIs, operators configuring and monitoring wallet infrastructure at scale, security teams enforcing policy across complex on-chain workflows. The design challenge isn't making things pretty; it's making genuinely hard things feel obvious.

You'll sit embedded with the product and engineering team, owning design for Turnkey's core product surface from discovery through ship. You'll work alongside an existing designer who owns the design system and brand side - your focus is the product itself: the flows, the interfaces, the moments where a developer or operator needs to do something fast and get it right.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end design for Turnkey's core product: dashboard, developer experience, policy controls, and operational tooling
  • Embed closely with product and engineering - in the room early, shaping the problem before the solution is decided
  • Run discovery, prototyping, and iteration cycles with real users: developers, security teams, and operators
  • Translate technically complex workflows into interfaces that feel obvious
  • Collaborate with the existing designer on design system consistency and shared standards
  • Raise the bar on interaction quality and product coherence across everything we ship

What we're looking for

  • 3-8 years of product design experience, with a track record of owning complex workflows end-to-end
  • Comfortable designing for technical users - developers, operators, or similarly sophisticated audiences
  • Strong UX fundamentals: you define the problem before you design the solution, and you sweat the interaction details without losing sight of the whole
  • Proven collaborator with engineering - you work best when you're embedded, not handed off to
  • High agency: in ambiguous spaces, you create structure rather than waiting for it
  • Fluent in Figma; comfortable prototyping at varying levels of fidelity

Style points

  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or security products
  • Has designed for both developer-facing and operator-facing audiences
  • Strong opinions about developer UX - and can defend them
  • Exposure to AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows

What We Offer

  • Full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA/FSA, 401(k) - detailed benefits overview available as we get further in the process
  • Paid parental leave
  • Unlimited PTO
  • $3,000/yr learning and development budget to attend industry conferences
  • Multiple team offsites per year
  • Lunch stipend
