Activities
What You Will Do:
  • Develop work plans for Turnaround repair scopes to allow safe, efficient scheduling, assignment and execution of work.
  • Incorporate associated capital project work into job plans for equipment
  • Create, use and maintain equipment history and other technical files to include information in current jobs plans to anticipate and avoid job delays.
  • Track inventory, procure and stage materials and tools as need to efficiently complete field execution.
  • Incorporate scopes of work with contractual terms and conditions to develop bid packages.
  • Stay familiar with HSE procedures and regulations. Incorporate safety, environmental and rescue into planned jobs.
  • Provide technical assistance to turnaround mechanical coordinators to ensure good coordination in completing work scope..
  • Make field inspections and determine appropriate job work steps during the planning process.
  • Develop electronic schedules for fieldwork.
  • Provide technical feedback on job packages provided. Point out areas of improvement and cost reduction possibilities.
  • Monitor quality performance of rotating equipment contractors and safety performance in work area.

Candidate Profile
What You Bring:
  • Minimum of 10 years craft experience in work with rotating equipment, plus a minimum 10 years experience in any of the following areas: Planning, Scheduling, Estimating, Purchasing, and Contracts.
  • Preferred BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to work in turnaround execution periods on 12 hour shifts for seven days per week as needed

  • Planners should have good mechanical skills and a good understanding of the plant systems and equipment. Planners should have a background of Journeyman level craftsmen, or equivalent technical experience.
  • They should have a thorough knowledge and appreciation of safety and environmental rules. Planners must be able to assess equipment problems correctly and develop cost effective solutions. Planners must be able to anticipate job problems and delays and plan appropriate measures to avoid them.
  • Planners must be able to estimate reasonable time requirements for the execution of job plans, and they must be able report daily progress against the milestone schedule.
  • Planners should have good analytical skills in handling data and information. They must be able to read schematics, drawings and manuals. They must possess a high level of proficiency with computers.
  • Planners must be able to file information and retrieve information from files to improve job plans. Planners must be able to put together the elements of planned work including work scopes, materials, tools, time and craft estimates and other requirements together into a coherent job plan. Planners should easily be able to handle math involved for estimating, ordering materials and calculating angles for drafting, and they should be able to order materials and supplies.
  • Planners should have good communications and people skills, and be able to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of plant personnel.
  • Planners should be self-motivated and innovative in the way they approach their work. Planners must use their technical ability to effectively challenge directives and past practices with new ideas as necessary.
