Shaw Sports Turf Territory Manager - Maryland, DC & Delaware

Position Overview

A North American leader in synthetic turf development, Shaw Sports Turf has more than 4,000 successful installations to its name, ranging from high school to college to professional surfaces. With quality and innovation at the heart of everything we do, we're always pushing the boundaries of innovation to develop advanced surfaces to optimize athlete performance, while prioritizing safety and sustainability.

We are seeking a dynamic Territory Manager to cultivate strong relationships with new and existing end-use customers within the Maryland, DC, & Delaware market, as well as develop distributor, installation, and construction partners within the local market. The role requires presenting Shaw's products, systems, and solutions to end users and key stakeholders, and educating architects and engineers on Shaw's full range of offerings. Additionally, the Territory Manager is expected to proactively prospect for new project opportunities while maintaining a strong awareness of market activity within their assigned geographic area.

Responsibilities:

  • Use a consultative approach with end users, distributors, contractors, architects, engineers, etc. to select appropriate systems for their projects that fit within their usage requirements, budget, and time frame.

  • Establish / maintain relationships and grow distribution partners

  • Must be able to give presentations to end-users, school boards, facilities management personnel, senior level stake holders in athletic programs, architects, and engineers, among others, to educate them how Shaw Sports Turf can benefit them in their facilities.

  • Travel throughout the assigned area to call on existing customers and prospect new customers to solicit business.

  • Build relationships with existing and new customers by entertaining such as lunches, dinners, or special events.

  • Attend Regional and National Conventions when required

  • Establish a presence and relationship with end use networking groups in your territory

  • A full understanding of the product line, procurement processes, and sports field construction is essential.

  • Must be motivated and comfortable working in a remote environment with a widespread support team stretching multiple time zones

  • Must be able and competent to work with and manage territory thru CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool such as Salesforce.com and other digital environments

  • The ability to interface/communicate with a diverse group of customers in a friendly and respectable manner.

  • Must be able to understand basic biomechanics and sports science principles and how they relate to sports turf systems while being able to communicate those to customers concisely.

  • Must be able to operate in complex and long sales process using a solutions mindset and with a reasonable amount of autonomy

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • 5 years previous outside sales experience or qualified sales training program completion

  • 50% to 75% Travel required

  • Must reside within territory

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in athletic field construction or comparable

  • Experience selling in the public sector

  • Experience in the athletic industry
