Job description

General Summary

Southern States Cooperative is seeking a proven sales professional to drive growth within our professional turf business. This role is responsible for developing and expanding relationships with golf courses, sports fields, municipalities, parks and recreation departments, educational institutions, landscape contractors, and other professional turf customers throughout the assigned territory.

The Regional Turf Account Manager serves as a trusted advisor to customers by providing agronomic solutions, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional service. This is a highly visible growth-focused role responsible for increasing market share, expanding customer relationships, and achieving aggressive sales goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Increase turf dollar volume. Meet or exceed the assigned budget.
  • Operate within budgeted expenses and gross margins.
  • Identify, contact, and coordinate approval process, set-up, initiate certification papers and credit application for new turf accounts.
  • Service current and future turf accounts as assigned by the Manager of Turf.
  • Remain aware of market changes and communicate regularly on an on-going basis with Manager of Turf the prices, supply and availability of products and services.
  • May assist with sales and technical training.
  • Maintain proper relationships with industry.
  • Work closely with accounts in keeping credit within established terms. Assist in working past due accounts.
  • Work with accounts on complaints.
  • Maintain record book of all accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Agronomy/Turf Management or Marketing or equivalent work experience in related field

Grade 509 - Entry-Level

  • Good sales communication skills required

Work Environment

  • Job functions are performed in an office environment

Physical Activities & Requirements

While performing the essential job functions of this position, the following is required:

  • Continuously balance, manual dexterity (fingers and hands), use hands in repetitive motion, sit, utilize eye/hand coordination
  • Frequently stand, walk, turn and twist head/neck and back/waist
  • Occasionally pull, push, lift, carry up to 50-100 pounds

Must be able to speak to co-workers and customers regarding day-to-day business operations.
