Job description

Job Summary:

The Tufting Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and monitoring tufting machinery to produce high-quality artificial turf products in a safe and efficient manner. This position supports production goals by ensuring machine performance, maintaining product quality standards, and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed to minimize downtime.

This position is for day shift Monday through Thursday from 7a-7p.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 240-end single-level creel tufting machine to meet daily production requirements and quality standards.

  • Inspect finished turf products to ensure compliance with company specifications and customer requirements.

  • Monitor machine operations and identify, troubleshoot, and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues.

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on tufting equipment to support efficient production and reduce downtime.

  • Maintain adequate fiber and backing material supply at the machine to ensure continuous operation.

  • Accurately record production data, downtime, and material usage for reporting and inventory purposes.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to improve production efficiency and product quality.

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous manufacturing, textile, carpet, or tufting experience preferred.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation and troubleshooting.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.

  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications and measurements.

  • Basic math skills for material calculations and production reporting.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
