What’s a typical day as Tube Expander Operator? You’ll be:
  • Setting up and operating tube expanding machines to secure copper tubes within coil fin packs according to production orders
  • Loading finned coil assemblies into the expander and aligning tubes accurately with expansion rods or bullets
  • Adjusting machine settings for pressure, stroke, and alignment to ensure uniform tube expansion
  • Inspecting coils before and after expansion to verify correct tube seating and fin integrity
  • Monitoring machine operation, identifying and correcting issues such as vibration or misfeeds
  • Performing basic maintenance and lubrication of expanders, mandrels, and fixtures
  • Handling coils carefully to prevent damage during setup and removal
  • Recording production counts, cycle times, and scrap data accurately
  • Assisting in tooling changes and machine setup for different coil types or sizes
  • Following strict safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
  • Collaborating with assembly, brazing, and testing teams to ensure product quality and workflow
