What are TS Security professionals?

TS Security professionals are responsible for ensuring the protection of sensitive information and assets, often within organizations that handle classified or high-security data. The 'TS' typically stands for 'Top Secret,' indicating that these professionals are cleared to handle information at the highest levels of classification. Their tasks may include monitoring security systems, conducting risk assessments, implementing security protocols, and responding to security breaches. They work to prevent unauthorized access, data leaks, and other security threats both physical and digital. These roles are critical in sectors such as government, defense, and private companies with sensitive information.

What are some common challenges faced by TS Security professionals when working on cross-departmental projects?

TS Security professionals often encounter challenges such as aligning security protocols with varying department workflows and managing communication between technical and non-technical teams. Balancing the need for robust security with operational efficiency can be complex, as each department may have unique requirements and priorities. Success in this role involves strong collaboration skills, adaptability, and the ability to clearly explain security risks and solutions to diverse stakeholders.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a TS Security professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a TS (Top Secret) Security professional, you need a solid understanding of security protocols, risk assessment, and compliance requirements, typically supported by a security clearance and relevant certifications such as CISSP or Security+. Familiarity with access control systems, surveillance technology, and incident response tools is essential. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and effective communication skills help build trust and ensure adherence to strict security procedures. These skills and qualities are crucial for protecting sensitive assets and maintaining national security in high-stakes environments.

Job description

Job Description Everforth ECS is seeking a Senior Build/Packaging Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax . Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award. The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP focuses on operational warfighting data and aims to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts. This role develops, governs, and advances reproducible build and packaging standards that support the deployment of production-ready AI and machine-learning model artifacts across all WDP classification enclaves, ensuring deployment reliability, supply-chain integrity, and enclave-parity packaging consistency across Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments. • Develops, governs, and advances reproducible build and packaging standards that support the deployment of production-ready AI and machine-learning model artifacts across Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments.
• Establishes enterprise conventions for artifact structure, dependency management, version control, integrity verification, and configuration reproducibility, enabling predictable model promotion through all War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration-controlled enclaves.
• Implements automated build workflows integrated with model-scanning pipelines, incorporating security vulnerability detection, integration bottleneck identification, and compliance with model development best practices outlined in test and evaluation gates.
• Constructs hardened build stages using container orchestration frameworks, artifact registries, cryptographic signing tools, software bill-of-materials generators, and controlled environment build runners.
• Develops reusable packaging templates that align artifact production with War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration model serving runtimes, deployment orchestration patterns, and cross-domain transfer requirements.
• Coordinates with cybersecurity teams to embed security controls and verification checkpoints consistent with NIST control baselines, Zero Trust principles, and enclave-specific constraints.
• Collaborates with pipeline engineering, backend API engineering, platform operations, and external model-provider integration teams to synchronize artifact packaging with model endpoint configuration workflows, Model Zoo ingestion processes, and mission assurance validation.
• Produces documentation, packaging specifications, build runbooks, and enclave-specific deployment compatibility matrices supporting repeatable artifact promotion.
• Strengthens War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration program value by increasing deployment reliability, reducing variance across enclaves, and supporting mission users with consistently packaged model capabilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills • Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• CompTIA A+ certification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and governing enterprise build and artifact packaging frameworks within classified or federal multi-enclave environments.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise constructing hardened build pipelines using container orchestration frameworks, artifact registries, cryptographic signing tools, and software bill-of-materials generators, with a proven ability to enforce reproducibility and configuration consistency across Unclassified, SIPR, and JWICS enclaves.
• Proven experience integrating automated build workflows with security-scanning pipelines-including vulnerability detection, SBOM generation, and compliance gate enforcement-aligned with DevSecOps factory standards and Zero Trust principles.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management). Desired Skills • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
• Prior experience working within Platform One or Cloud One environments, including familiarity with BigBang DevSecOps factory frameworks, hardened artifact packaging standards, and enclave-parity pipeline compliance thresholds relevant to DoW software-factory operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) practices, including automated ingest-time scanning for malicious code, SBOM generation against third-party components, transitive dependency tracking, and delivery of compliance reports in support of formal government authorization packages.
• Experience developing and maintaining enclave-specific deployment compatibility matrices and build runbooks that reduce configuration variance and accelerate mission-aligned model promotion across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.
• Familiarity with Model Zoo ingestion workflows, model serving runtime requirements, and deployment orchestration patterns that govern the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML artifacts from build through production release.
