We are currently pursuing a proposal and are seeking qualified candidates to include in our submission and identify candidates for future hiring needs on the program once awarded. For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Associate Security Engineer. * Core Knowledge & Skills: Understands foundational security concepts, network principles, OS security, cloud threat protection, and compliance standards. Performs basic troubleshooting and monitoring under guidance.
* Work & Complexity: Handles routine security tasks, monitors systems, configures basic settings, and maintains incident logs with supervision.
* Quality & Independence: Follows procedures, ensures accuracy, documents incidents, and reliably executes assigned tasks with limited decision latitude.
* Teamwork & Communication: Supports senior engineers, collaborates on team projects, communicates status, and responds to feedback.
* Consulting & Engagement: Provides technical assistance, shares best practices, suggests process improvements, and interacts with vendors on simple issues. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Information System Security Officer, Junior (ISSO). Position Summary The Junior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) supports the implementation, documentation, and monitoring of information system security controls in accordance with federal cybersecurity frameworks. This role focuses on assisting with system authorization activities, maintaining compliance documentation, and supporting continuous monitoring efforts. This position will be 100% onsite in Quantico, VA. This is a proposal-based position; employment is contingent upon contract award and funding availability. Key Responsibilities * Support documentation, testing, and ongoing review of system security controls
* Assist in ensuring systems are fully scoped with all components and technology stacks accurately inventoried.
* Help articulate the implementation of assigned security controls
* Support system decommissioning efforts, ensuring proper retirement or cancellation of systems
* Assist in achieving system authorizations (ATO) in a timely manner
* Contribute to continuous monitoring activities to ensure compliance consistency
Required Qualifications * Minimum 1+ year of ISSO or ISS Engineer experience in a cleared environment
* Minimum 1+ year of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field
* Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related discipline. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
* DoD 8570/IAT Level II certification or equivalent (e.g., Security+)
* Familiarity with security tools such as: * Tenable Nessus / Security Center
* Splunk
* IBM Guardium
* HP WebInspect
* NMAP or similar tools
* Basic understanding of RMF, NIST 800-53, and federal compliance standards
* Active Top Secret clearance. The targeted base salary range for this role is $68,000-$104,000 per year.
