What is a trust administrator?

A trust administrator manages the financial assets in trust funds. As a trust administrator, your clients expect you to make decisions in good faith that are in their best interest financially. Your job duties include opening and closing accounts and setting up trust funds, beneficiaries, and deed documents according to state and federal regulations. You also file and pay taxes, disburse payments to clients, and communicate with clients on a regular basis. You need strong communication skills and in-depth knowledge of trust administration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a trust administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Trust Administrator, you need a solid understanding of trust law, estate planning, and financial services, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with trust accounting software, fiduciary management systems, and sometimes certifications like CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) is common. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing sensitive client relationships and complex documentation. These skills ensure the accurate administration of trusts, compliance with regulations, and the delivery of high-quality client service.

What are some common challenges trust administrators face when managing multiple client accounts simultaneously?

Trust Administrators often manage several client accounts at once, which requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Common challenges include keeping up with diverse regulatory requirements, meeting strict reporting deadlines, and ensuring accurate record-keeping for each trust. Effective communication with clients, beneficiaries, and legal or financial advisors is also essential to address unique client needs and resolve any issues promptly. Adapting to evolving compliance standards and technology platforms is another key aspect of the role.

  • Support Experience Cloud, Public Sector Solutions, Service Cloud, or other Salesforce capabilities as required by the customer environment.
  • Coordinate, schedule, validate, and execute Salesforce releases, including major releases, minor releases, hotfixes, and production changes.
  • Support release management processes, including release calendar management, deployment planning, release readiness reviews, change request preparation, rollback planning, and post-deployment validation.
  • Work with development teams to package, validate, and deploy configuration, metadata, code, and data-related changes using approved DevSecOps processes.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline activities using tools such as Salesforce CLI, Salesforce DX, Git, GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, Copado, Gearset, or similar release automation tools.
  • Create and maintain Git repositories, branches, deployment artifacts, release notes, and environment/version control documentation.
  • Support technical design document reviews by identifying release dependencies, environment impacts, deployment risks, security impacts, regression considerations, and operational readiness needs.
  • Troubleshoot release, deployment, environment, access, configuration, integration, and production support issues.
  • Support incident response and hotfix activities by validating configuration issues, access problems, deployment defects, and platform-level concerns.
  • Support data import, export, cleanup, validation, and migration activities using Data Loader, Data Import Wizard, reports, SOQL, or approved customer tools.
  • Support occasional off-hours releases, production deployments, outages, hotfixes, or urgent operational needs.

What You Will Bring With You:
  • 3+ years as a Salesforce Administrator for large production orgs.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps practices, including software release management, version control, and deployment automation (e.g., using tools like Git, Jenkins, or Salesforce DX).
