Job Description:

If you can't stop thinking, talking and learning about food, we've got your in to a from-scratch kitchen. Our cooks focus on large-batch prep, including stocks, sauces, breads and meats. And the music's always playing in the kitchen (but it'll be a minute 'til you get to play your favorite songs). Here at Troegs, we do things like bake our own breads, cure our own bacon and pipe our own sausage. That means an ambitious prep cook who proves him or herself punching fries will have opportunities to learn new skills and help execute the vision of our chefs.


Requirements

Daily Duties:

Prioritizes tasks based upon the prep list posted by the Chef.

Prepares, cooks and packages recipes using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

Understands and complies consistently with our standard recipes, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Maintains a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, floors, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, flat top and refrigeration equipment.

Performs preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment, as needed and directed by Sous Chef.

Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Sous Chef.

Informs Sous Chef immediately of product shortages.

Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.

Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings constructive suggestions for improvement.

Uses our Recipe Bible for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef or supervisor-on-duty.


Key Job Skills:

A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.

A positive attitude and a desire to learn.

Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and coworkers.

Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).


Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach and walk constantly for long periods of time - up to 7 hours

Ability to safely navigate the Tasting Room and Snack Bar areas including crowded spaces, wet/slippery floors, hot or sharp kitchen equipment and tools, and/or stairs

Ability to lift, carry and maneuver boxes, equipment and supplies of a variety of weights, with or without the assistance of a coworker


Work Environment:

Troegs Brewing Company is a climate-controlled brewing and packaging facility. The following is a representative list of what a co-worker might encounter during a typical work day:

Hot water,

Steam,

Pressurized vessels, and

Loud working areas.


Co-workers regularly handle hazardous materials and regularly come in contact with broken glass and wet floors while working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts.


Work Schedule:

up to 30 hours a week 

Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
