Job description

Anesthesiologist โ€“ Brooke Army Medical Center (San Antonio, TX)

Employer: CentralCare Inc.
Type: Civilian Contractor (1099)
Schedule: Full-Time (4ร—10s) | Call: 2โ€“4 shifts/month
Location: Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX

A Meaningful Opportunity to Serve Without Enlisting

CentralCare Inc. is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist to join our team at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio โ€” the U.S. Armyโ€™s flagship Level I Trauma Center and one of the nationโ€™s most advanced military medical facilities.

This is a civilian contractor role (1099) supporting service members, veterans, and their families. No military service is required.

Work Where Excellence Meets Purpose

Brooke Army Medical Center is the largest and most robust healthcare organization within the Department of Defense. The hospital supports more than 240,000 military beneficiaries, features 450 inpatient beds, 12 operating rooms, and over 45 ICU beds, and handles more than 80,000 emergency visits annually as the Military Health Systemโ€™s only Level I Trauma Center.

With a mission to enable total force readiness and deliver globally responsive, high-quality healthcare, BAMC combines military precision, academic rigor, and world-class medical capability. Itโ€™s a place where your skills directly contribute to readiness, recovery, and the lives of those who serve.

What Our Current Anesthesiologists Love About Working Here

These insights come directly from anesthesiologists currently practicing at BAMC:

  • Predictable 10-hour day shifts
  • 15-hour in-house night call
  • Guaranteed post-call day off after every overnight shift
  • Days: typically staffing 1โ€“2 ORs with residents
  • Nights/weekends/holidays: staffing 2 ORs with residents
  • No CRNA supervision โ€” CRNAs practice independently
  • Collaboration for ASA III or higher
  • Free CME through a strong morning report / lecture series
  • Research opportunities available but never required

This environment offers a balance of academic engagement, teamwork, and lifestyle stability โ€” without the pressure often seen in academic centers.

Your Role
  • Deliver safe, high-quality anesthesia care for a wide range of surgical and trauma procedures.
  • Monitor and manage patients through all perioperative phases.
  • Collaborate with CRNAs, residents, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Contribute to a culture built on integrity, compassion, respect, and excellence.

  • Compensation: Hourly (2025 increased rates)
  • Malpractice: Provided (1M/3M occurrence)
  • Credentialing: 45โ€“60 days
What Youโ€™ll Bring
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology
  • Active Texas medical license (licensing assistance available)
  • Current DEA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA)
