Job Description

This position exists to provide academic advising, college and career readiness programming, and student support services to participants in the federally funded TRIO Upward Bound program within the Student Affairs division of Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The position supports the mission of the college and the goals of the Upward Bound program by increasing educational access, academic success, secondary school completion, and postsecondary enrollment for low-income, first-generation, and underserved high school students.

The TRIO Upward Bound Advisor manages an assigned caseload of students and collaborates with families, schools, campus departments, and community partners to deliver academic support services, educational programming, and college readiness opportunities that promote student persistence, personal development, and successful transition to higher education.

Salary Range:

$23.98 - $34.69/ hour; $50,070-$72,433/annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social sciences, or a related field

  • Experience supporting, advising, mentoring, or working with students from low-income, first-generation, diverse, or underserved backgrounds.

  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community partners.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations through oral and written communication.

  • Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate records and documentation.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive student support practices.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with TRIO programs or other federally funded educational opportunity programs.

  • Knowledge of high school graduation requirements, college readiness practices, and postsecondary planning processes.

  • Experience developing or facilitating educational workshops, student programming, or enrichment activities.

  • Experience working within secondary or postsecondary educational environments.
