Job description

Role name: HW VnV Engineer

Work Location: Phoenix, AZ (On Site)

Type of hire: Contract

Role Overview:

  • Looking for somebody (engineer or technician) that can run Python scripts on low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Must be knowledgeable about hardware interfaces and have hardware troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and coordinate with various product teams.
  • The job will also involve providing weekly status and sharing information and best practices with other members of the teams.

1. Scope clarity

  • Develop, maintain, and debug Python-based hardware validation scripts for board-level and interface-level testing.
  • Translate hardware requirements into executable test procedures and pass/fail criteria.

2. Interface and lab skills (explicitly list)

  • Hands-on with interfaces like UART/RS-422/RS-485, SPI, I2C, GPIO, Ethernet/CAN (as relevant).
  • Comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and signal generators.

3. Debugging expectations

  • Root-cause failures across script logic, firmware, and hardware bring-up issues.
  • Perform triage with clear issue isolation: test setup vs script defect vs hardware defect.

4. Code quality expectations

  • Write maintainable, modular Python with logging, retries/timeouts, and robust error handling.

5. Traceability and documentation
