What is trenchless pipe lining?

Trenchless pipe lining is a method of repairing or rehabilitating existing pipelines without the need for extensive excavation. This process typically involves inserting a flexible liner coated with resin into the damaged pipe, which is then cured to form a new, seamless pipe within the old one. Trenchless pipe lining is less disruptive, faster, and often more cost-effective than traditional pipe replacement, making it a popular choice for fixing sewer and water lines in residential, commercial, and municipal settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Trenchless Pipe Lining Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Trenchless Pipe Lining Technician, you need a solid understanding of plumbing systems, pipe rehabilitation techniques, and safety protocols, often gained through vocational training or relevant certification. Experience with specialized equipment such as pipe inspection cameras, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) systems, and resin application tools is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure efficient, high-quality pipe repairs while minimizing disruption and upholding safety standards on job sites.

What are some common challenges faced by trenchless pipe lining technicians on the job?

Trenchless pipe lining technicians often encounter challenges such as navigating confined or difficult-to-access spaces, working with old or deteriorated piping materials, and ensuring the correct curing of lining materials. Weather conditions and underground obstacles like tree roots or utility lines can also complicate projects. Effective teamwork, problem-solving skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential for overcoming these challenges and ensuring successful pipe rehabilitation.

Job description

$32-$37+/hr | Hands-On Trade | Paid Travel | Year-Round Work

Letโ€™s be real for a secondโ€ฆ

If youโ€™re someone who likes working with your hands, being part of a solid crew, and seeing the direct results of your work at the end of the day - this might be exactly what youโ€™re looking for.

This isnโ€™t just another job - This is a career in a specialized, high-demand trade.

At Trenchless Today, we donโ€™t tear up properties to fix underground pipelines. We use advanced trenchless technology and our Liner Technicians are a key part of making that happen.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Trenchless Pipe Liner Technician, youโ€™ll help install and rehabilitate underground pipelines using Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) technology.

That means real, hands-on work like:

  • Performing pre- and post-installation inspections using CCTV camera equipment

  • Preparing and handling resin-saturated liners

  • Performing liner installation (inversion or pull-in-place methods)

  • Monitor the curing processes using steam, hot water, Ambient, or UV light

  • Operating and maintaining specialized equipment (liners, boilers, cameras, generators)

  • Working as part of a crew to complete jobs efficiently, safely, and the right way

This is a skilled technician role where youโ€™ll build advanced, in-demand expertise in trenchless pipe rehabilitationโ€”not just general labor or support work.

What the Work Environment Looks Like

  • Work takes place on residential, commercial, and municipal job sites

  • Primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • Travel is required depending on the project

  • Work may include confined spaces (manholes, underground access points)

Fast-paced, hands-on environment where every crew member matters

What Weโ€™re Looking For

Weโ€™re not looking for perfect resumesโ€”weโ€™re looking for the right mindset and work ethic.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

  • Reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented

  • Comfortable with physical work (lifting, confined spaces, outdoor conditions)

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and handle materials responsibly

  • Good communication and problem-solving skills

  • Valid driverโ€™s license

Bonus points if you have

  • Plumbing, construction, or utility experience

  • Experience with drain cleaning, jetting, or CCTV inspections

  • Exposure to trenchless or pipe lining (not requiredโ€”weโ€™ll train you)

What You Get

  • Competitive hourly pay + consistent overtime (real earning potential)

  • Get paid to travel

  • $0 Health Insurance (yes, really!)

  • 401(k) with company match โ€” invest in your future while you work

  • Robust paid time off

  • Year-round, steady work โ€” no wondering whatโ€™s next

  • The opportunity to step into a role where your leadership actually matters

Bottom Line

If you want a job where you can:

  • Learn a valuable, in-demand trade

  • Be part of a strong, dependable crew

  • Build a long-term career with real opportunity

Then donโ€™t wait any longerโ€ฆApply today!
