The ideal candidate is an ISA Certified Arborist with strong tree identification and assessment skills, experience preparing arborist reports, and proficiency in AutoCAD for tree protection plans and related documentation. This individual will play a key role in supporting municipal, development, and land planning projects while contributing to the continued growth of our arboriculture services. This position offers the opportunity to develop into a leadership role overseeing staff, managing projects, and contributing to department growth.

Why Join Us?

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tree inventories, assessments, and condition evaluations on a variety of project sites.

  • Perform tree identification and health assessments across multiple species and geographic regions.

  • Prepare arborist reports, inventories, and supporting documentation for municipalities, developers, and project stakeholders.

  • Develop and assist with tree protection plans using AutoCAD.

  • Coordinate field data collection and ensure accuracy of documentation.

  • Collaborate with survey, landscape, and planning teams on project deliverables.

  • Support project management efforts through reporting, scheduling, and client communication.

  • Assist in training and mentoring field staff as the department continues to expand.

  • Maintain compliance with municipal, environmental, and arboricultural standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 6 years of overall experience in the tree care, arboriculture, or urban forestry industry.

  • At least 2-4 years of professional experience following certification completion.

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Ecology, Arboriculture, or a related field.

  • Strong tree identification and assessment experience.

  • Experience performing tree inventories and preparing arborist reports.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, specifically related to tree protection plans and project documentation.

  • Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.

  • Landscape design experience.

  • Experience leading field crews or coordinating project teams.

  • Opportunity to work on high-profile, large-scale land development, municipal, and infrastructure projects across a growing geographic footprint.

  • Access to the resources, technology, and multidisciplinary expertise of Pape-Dawson while maintaining the close-knit culture of Gaskins + LeCraw.

  • Exposure to projects involving hundreds of acres of land assessment and complex environmental planning.

  • Clear pathway for career advancement into departmental leadership, project management, proposal development, and staff oversight.

  • Ongoing professional development, continuing education, and support for maintaining professional certifications.

  • Collaborative, employee-focused culture that encourages innovation, mentorship, and long-term career growth.

  • Opportunity to help shape and expand a growing arboriculture practice with the backing of a nationally recognized organization.
