How to get a job as a treasure hunter?

To become a treasure hunter, gaining knowledge of history, geology, and navigation is essential, along with skills in metal detecting, diving, or excavation. Building experience through volunteering, obtaining relevant certifications, and networking with treasure hunting communities can improve job prospects. Many treasure hunters work independently or as part of specialized exploration companies.

Can you make a living treasure hunting?

Treasure hunting as a profession is rare and often not a primary income source. Most treasure hunters pursue it as a hobby or side activity, and income depends on successful finds, which are unpredictable and infrequent. Professional opportunities may exist in related fields like archaeology or salvage, but they typically require specialized training and certifications.

What is a Treasure Hunting job?

A treasure hunting job involves searching for valuable artifacts, coins, lost items, or historical relics using research, technology, and exploration skills. Treasure hunters may work independently or for organizations, using metal detectors, sonar, or historical records to locate hidden treasures. Some specialize in land-based searches, while others focus on underwater wrecks or archaeological digs. Success requires patience, expertise, and sometimes legal permissions if hunting on protected sites.

How much do treasure hunters make?

Treasure hunters' earnings vary widely depending on the success of their finds, location, and experience. Some may earn a few hundred dollars per successful expedition, while rare discoveries can lead to significant payouts, often shared with landowners or museums. Many treasure hunters pursue the activity as a hobby or side income rather than a full-time profession.

What are some common challenges faced by treasure hunters in the field?

Treasure hunters frequently encounter challenges such as difficult terrain, unpredictable weather, and strict legal regulations regarding artifact recovery. Securing permits, conducting thorough historical research, and ensuring the preservation of discovered items require patience and meticulous attention to detail. Collaboration with archaeologists, historians, and local authorities is often necessary to ensure ethical practices and compliance with regional laws. Overcoming these challenges not only protects cultural heritage but also enhances professional credibility and long-term career success in the field.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

In treasure hunting, highly successful professional treasure hunters or explorers can earn around $2,000 per day through contracts, commissions, or prize winnings, especially when working on valuable recoveries or rare finds. Such earnings typically require specialized skills, equipment, and experience in excavation, navigation, or historical research. Most high-paying treasure hunting jobs are project-based and depend on the value of the discoveries made.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Treasure Hunting position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Treasure Hunter, you need expertise in research, archaeology, metal detecting, and navigation, often supported by degrees in history or archaeology and fieldwork experience. Familiarity with GPS devices, metal detectors, excavation tools, and relevant permits or certifications is essential. Strong analytical thinking, perseverance, teamwork, and effective communication are vital soft skills in this line of work. These abilities ensure safe, efficient, and lawful operations while maximizing the chances of valuable discoveries.

This is one of the most critical roles in the company.

You will:

Mechanize BuyWander

Build scalable systems across locations

Ensure every site runs smoothly, profitably, and consistently

Turn operational complexity into a competitive advantage

This is a builder + operator + scaler role.

You’ll go from:

Scrappy, hands-on problem solving to repeatable systems that scale across markets

We’re looking for someone who is:

A systems thinker

A relentless operator

A leader of leaders

Data-driven and AI-forward

Comfortable in the weeds AND at 10,000 feet

If you want to oversee from afar—this isn’t it. If you want to build the operating system behind a category-defining company—keep reading.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Operational Excellence Across Locations:

• Ensure every warehouse/store runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably

• Standardize workflows across receiving, processing, auctions, and pickup

• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across the operation

Build the Operating System:

• Design and implement scalable processes, SOPs, and playbooks

• Turn tribal knowledge into structured systems

• Create consistency across all markets

Mechanization & Scale:

• Introduce automation, tooling, and AI to improve efficiency

• Reduce manual work and increase throughput

• Build systems that allow us to scale rapidly without breaking

People & Performance:

• Hire, train, and develop General Managers and site leaders

• Build a high-performance culture across all locations

• Implement clear KPIs, accountability, and performance management

Unit Economics & Profitability:

• Own operational metrics: cost per unit, throughput, labor efficiency, margin

• Continuously improve profitability at the site level

• Partner with leadership on forecasting and expansion decisions

Training & Development:

• Build onboarding and training systems for new locations

• Ensure teams are equipped to execute consistently

• Develop future leaders within the organization

Cross-Functional Leadership:

• Partner with Product, Data, and Marketing to improve

the full customer experience

• Ensure operations and customer experience are tightly aligned

Firefighting to System Building:

• Solve immediate problems fast

• Then build systems so they don’t happen again

_________________________________________________________________

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

Most ops roles:

• Maintain existing systems

• Manage teams

• Optimize at the margins

This role:

Builds the entire operating system from scratch

Scales a multi-location business rapidly

Directly impacts growth, margins, and customer experience

Has real equity upside tied to success

You will be a key partner to the founders in building BuyWander.

GROWTH & UPSIDE

• Scale operations nationally

• Build and lead the full operations organization

• Equity in a company attacking a massive market

• Opportunity to evolve into a COO-level role
