Overview
TRC Companies (TRC) is a national engineering and energy efficiency consulting firm that provides integrated services to the energy, environmental, and infrastructure markets across the United States. TRC serves a broad range of clients in the public and private sectors, implementing energy efficiency programs and complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.
TRC is seeking an experienced Energy Efficiency Outreach Specialist to build relationships with new construction stakeholders in working toward New Jersey's clean energy goals. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, and comfort networking face to face with a wide range of audiences, from residents to commercial and industrial stakeholders. This position works across industries including local governments, commercial and industrial contractors, vendors, and customers regarding the implementation of energy efficiency incentive program offerings.
The selected candidate must reside in New Jersey to be considered for this role. This position will be based in the state of New Jersey.
Responsibilities
Strategic Team Contributor
Play a vital role in our team, leveraging your understanding of new construction and development to contribute strategically and tactically.
Efficient Project Management
Demonstrate comprehensive project management skills, efficiently guiding initiatives from initial planning stages to successful project completion, engaging team members where needed.
Proactive Problem Solver
Tackle challenges head-on with a proactive problem-solving mindset, ensuring timely and effective resolution in a dynamic work environment.
Innovative Energy Advocate
Apply a solid understanding of sustainability and energy efficiency to champion innovative, translating technical concepts into practical value to encourage and facilitate participation in energy efficiency and decarbonization programs.
Diverse Responsibilities Management
Manage a range of responsibilities, including engaging with various stakeholders, campaign planning, and day-to-day administrative tasks such as scheduling, correspondence, and maintaining accurate, detailed records in the CRM using the full Microsoft Office suite.
Customer Engagement
Engage with new construction customers, developers, and contractors to identify and communicate energy savings opportunities, presenting the programs clearly in both in person and virtual audiences with varying levels of familiarity with the programs.
Strategic Outreach and Networking
o Conduct outreach campaigns targeting strategically important groups, with the interpersonal skills to network confidently with residents, commercial and industrial developers, builders, architects, contractors and other stakeholders involved in new construction.
o Advocate for participation in energy efficiency programs by building and maintaining relationships with industry partners and relevant organizations. Tactics will include attending trade shows and local meetings, both virtually and in-person, one-to-one follow up and proactive outreach by phone, email and in person.
o Aid in developing and executing a comprehensive outreach plan supporting the program's brand and message.
Market Analysis and Intelligence
Provide sector intelligence by analyzing trends and summarizing data within specified markets. Conduct independent research to identify new construction projects and locate the right contacts to reach out.
Customer Outreach Opportunity
Identify outreach opportunities by understanding customer requirements and analyzing how the program can effectively address the customers' pain points and motivators.
CRM Database Management
Manage accurate, detailed and up to date records of campaigns, opportunities, activities, and contacts in real time in CRM, supporting a data-drive approach to outreach.
Qualifications
Education and Background
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, construction management, business, marketing, or a related field.
Experience
3+ years of experience in outreach or business-to-business sales in the energy efficiency sector or a related field.
Residency and Transportation
New Jersey residency required. As this role requires travel, the candidate must possess a personal vehicle and an unincumbered driver's license (mileage reimbursed).
Communication Skills
Excellent public speaking and written communication skills, including the ability to present a complex program clearly to varied audiences
Report Development
Proven experience in developing and editing professional reports.
CRM Knowledge
Basic knowledge of CRM databases with a data-driven approach and attention to detail.
Project Management
Strong time management skills with the ability to independently prioritize tasks, manage deadlines and forecast assignments with moderate scope.
Stakeholder Familiarity
Demonstrated familiarity with a range of stakeholders in New Jersey's new construction industry.
Industry Knowledge
Understanding of sustainability in general and energy efficiency in particular. Familiarity with LEED, ENERGY STAR®, and/or other green building certification standards is a plus.
Language Skills
Bilingual speaking and translation skills are a plus.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
