Job description

Job Title: Lab Assistant [Evening - 3:00pm]
Location: Cambridge, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 40
Support Services (Lab) - Lab Assistant
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists with the required processing of laboratory specimens including but not limited to verification of specimen identification, requisition entry when necessary, centrifugation, and pouring of aliquots.
- Performs a variety of clerical and technical procedures to prepare specimens for processing, result review, and verification. Answers phones, and assists with providing test result information to physicians.
- Checks inventory of supplies, and notifies supervisor when ordering may be necessary.
- Maintains work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Operates computer for required applications.
- Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies; adheres to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Performs other similar or related duties as required or as directed in all sections, areas, and shifts.
- Works closely with technical and clerical staff to maintain communication related to patient tests/processing.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with reading skills verified at ninth grade level or better.
- Six months of laboratory experience preferred.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Able to work independently on assigned tasks.
