Job description

Assembly Technician (Cutter Assembly)
Location: Houston, Texas

Position Summary
Assemble cutters by fitting and fastening legs and cones per work instructions. Use hand/power tools and basic measuring equipment, complete required inspections and paperwork, and meet production expectations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble cutters by aligning and fastening legs and cones to specification.
  • Use hand/power tools and torque tools; read job travelers and drawings to verify fit/alignment and perform in-process/final checks.
  • Operate a bandsaw to cut material to length as needed; verify cut quality per instructions.
  • Operate forklift/material-handling equipment as needed (company certification provided).
  • Complete travelers/work orders and maintain traceability and quality records.
  • Maintain an organized work area and follow safety and quality procedures; escalate nonconforming parts.
  • Maintain good housekeeping/5S (clean spills promptly, keep aisles clear, store parts and tools safely) to prevent slips, trips, and struck-by hazards.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a small team in developing improved work processes for the department.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical assembly experience preferred; ability to read drawings and follow job travelers/work instructions.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and detail oriented.
  • Experience with hand/power tools and basic measurement; torque experience a plus.
  • Forklift experience preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain company certification.
  • Basic paperwork/computer skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Stand/walk/bend and use hands/arms for assembly tasks throughout the shift.
  • Lift/move up to 50 lbs. (with assistance/lifting devices as required).
  • Day shift with overtime as needed.
  • Work performed in a shop/manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oils/greases, and metal components; PPE required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
