Job description

Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob Description

The Assembly Technician works on a dedicated production line assembling and soldering custom printed circuit boards in a small, high-quality manufacturing environment. This role focuses on detailed electronic and electro-mechanical assembly, including soldering small components, performing basic quality control, and operating production machinery to ensure each circuit board meets customer and industry standards before shipment.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble electronic and electro-mechanical units using hands, machinery, and various tools in accordance with IPC standards and specific customer guidelines.
  • Read and follow work instructions, travelers, drawings, and related documentation to ensure accurate assembly of products.
  • Monitor the assembly line, fixtures, and related machinery and tools to confirm proper setup and functionality throughout production.
  • Visually inspect and/or test finished products to verify correct assembly and performance, making improvements or taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Load and unload components into fixtures and machines safely and accurately.
  • Kit components into job boxes by correctly reading and interpreting labels, Bills of Materials, component markings, and associated documentation.
  • Use proper documentation methods for travelers, split tickets, receiving records, and related production paperwork.
  • Follow appropriate ESD (electrostatic discharge) and safety controls at all times while handling components and finished products.
  • Package finished products into boxes with correct labels, using proper ESD, customer, and logistics guidelines.
  • Use microscopes or magnification lights and measuring devices for detailed assembly and inspection tasks.
  • Perform basic quality control checks on the line, identifying small defects and potential issues and reporting or correcting them promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members and follow production priorities to meet quality and delivery targets.
Essential Skills
  • Previous soldering experience, including working with small parts and delicate components.
  • Ability to assemble electronic and electro-mechanical units, including circuit board and PCB assembly.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong reading and visual comprehension to follow written instructions, drawings, travelers, and labels accurately.
  • Basic mathematics skills to support assembly and inspection tasks.
  • Ability to read and use measuring devices, such as micrometers or similar tools, to perform assembly and inspection duties.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to spot small defects and potential problems in products.
  • Comfort working with microscopes or magnification lights for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with hand tools for long periods of time in a repetitive, production-focused environment.
  • Capability to sit or stand for long periods while performing assembly and inspection work.
  • Experience with soldering assembly, including thru-hole and surface-mount components (SMT), is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic inspection practices for electronic assemblies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • IPC certifications, which are highly valued and can enhance earning potential.
  • Experience in the printed circuit board (PCB) industry.
  • Exposure to surface-mount technology (SMT) processes and equipment.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, wiring, crimping, and electrical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, or similar technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with ESD-safe work practices and environments.
  • Experience working on an assembly line in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
  • Comfort using microscopes and inspection tools for fine-pitch or small-component work.
  • General knowledge of electronics and circuit boards.
Why Work Here?

You will join a clean, bright, and temperature-controlled facility that feels more like a laboratory than a typical production floor, creating a comfortable and professional environment for focused, detailed work. The company invests in quality and process standards, offering opportunities to build and grow your skills in electronics assembly and IPC practices. You will work a stable weekday schedule with the potential for additional overtime, particularly in peak seasons, which can increase your earnings. The culture emphasizes safety, precision, and continuous improvement, giving you the chance to contribute to high-quality, custom products for a variety of customers.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment that is exceptionally clean and bright, with a layout and feel similar to a laboratory rather than a traditional production floor. You will work on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is mandatory at times, especially during the summer, and may include working 1–2 Saturdays per month during peak periods. The work involves extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation, frequent use of microscopes or magnification lights, and regular handling of small components and hand tools. You will operate and monitor assembly line equipment, fixtures, and machines while following strict ESD and safety controls. The environment supports detailed electronic and electro-mechanical assembly and inspection tasks, with a focus on organization, cleanliness, and adherence to documented processes.
