Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery Birth Center position requiring strong L&D skills including C-section circulating and fetal monitoring, working 12-hour night shifts.

Details
  • Work in the Birth Center of a hospital setting
  • Unit consists of 20 total beds: 12 L&D, 8 PP/Antepartum (including 3 OB/ED rooms and 2 ORs), and a 6-bed Level II NICU
  • Patient population includes laboring patients, antepartum, and postpartum mothers and newborns
  • 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR; experience strongly preferred
  • No on-call requirements
Requirements
  • Active WA state or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
  • Must be proficient in cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusions, epidural assistance, fetal monitoring, IV placement, and Pitocin administration
  • Must be able to circulate C-sections
  • Baby catching/receiving skills required
  • Proficiency in APGAR scoring and breastfeeding knowledge required
  • Comfort with all aspects of postpartum care from transition through discharge for both mother and baby strongly preferred
  • At least one supervisory reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
  • Provides care across the full continuum of birth center services including labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum
  • A NP is available on call for support
  • Scrub-trained RNs are occasionally utilized for sick call coverage, though a Scrub Tech is always on site; scrub experience is a bonus but not required
  • Multilingual ability in Russian or Spanish is preferred given the patient population
  • Teal scrubs are provided by the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
