Summary:
Plan Reviewers are responsible for reviewing construction documents and permit applications to ensure compliance with applicable building codes. This role also requires strong understanding of code compliance and must maintain active licensure.
Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews all plans and specifications for commercial and residential projects to ensure compliance with Florida Building Code and reference standard requirements.
  • Interprets plans and codes and aids contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding plan review and inspection issues to process and approve applications for construction projects.
  • Accurately document findings using approved reporting systems and communication channels.
  • Communicate results, required corrections, and professional recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • May be required to perform inspections on as needed basis, providing interpretation of codes to team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members relating to issues surrounding plan examinations.
  • Participate in cross-training with other inspection staff to broaden knowledge enhance overall job performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support throughout the virtual inspection process
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Multi-Licensed Plan Reviewer by ICC and State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 1 years working as Plan Reviewer.
  • Strong working knowledge of theFlorida Building Code and applicable jurisdictional requirements.
  • Experience with Virtual or remote inspections preferred.
  • Ability to accurately interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet inspection turnaround deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with internal teams.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote workspace.
  • Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, and continuous learning.
