As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Providing trauma-informed counseling to individuals, couples, and families through telehealth platforms.
• Incorporating Christian principles into therapy sessions for clients who value a faith-based approach to mental health.
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that align with clients’ unique needs and goals.
• Delivering counseling services to clients referred by local churches, enhancing community partnerships.
• Actively engaging in outreach and networking within the community to build a diverse caseload and establish new referral sources.
• Collaborating with other professionals, including social workers and clinical counselors, to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
• Maintaining accurate client records and entering detailed progress notes in a timely manner within our electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Communicating openly with the center director regarding your client schedule, availability, and any challenges that arise.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related mental health field.
• Independently licensed in Washington, DC (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW), or nearing completion of residency with an application in process.
• Strong familiarity with Biblical counseling techniques and scripture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to connect effectively with clients and team members.
• Empathy and a compassionate demeanor that fosters trust and respect with clients.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines in all professional interactions.

While a minimum of one year of trauma counseling experience is required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Dual licensure in Virginia or Maryland.
• Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) or the willingness to complete basic training within the first three months of hire.
• Experience using a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions tailored to diverse clients.
