Trauma Surgeon
Lakeview Hospital - Covington, LA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
Lakeview Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified Trauma Surgeon to join our Level II Trauma Program. This physician will play a key role in providing high-quality trauma and surgical care to a diverse patient population while supporting a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical team.
The Trauma Surgeon is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute injuries and surgical conditions. This role includes direct patient care, clinical leadership, and medical supervision to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based treatment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to trauma patients in accordance with Level II Trauma standards
  • Perform routine and emergent examinations, diagnoses, and surgical interventions for illnesses and injuries
  • Deliver timely trauma consultations and surgical evaluations
  • Provide medical supervision and consultation to clinical and ancillary staff
  • Collaborate closely with emergency medicine, anesthesia, nursing, and specialty services to ensure continuity of care
  • Promote patients' overall health and well-being through appropriate follow-up care and preventive health measures
  • Administer immunizations in accordance with medical and school guidelines, as applicable
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement, trauma performance activities, and on-call coverage as required

Qualifications
  • Board Certified in General Surgery (Trauma Surgery specialization required)
  • Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted medical license in the state of Louisiana
  • American Heart Association, Basic Life Support-HCP, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification.
  • Fellowship training in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care preferred
  • Experience working within a Level II Trauma Center strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered, team-based care
