JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Trap Shooting Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership for the Trap Shooting Club at Dordt University, which will support the mission of the university, as well as bring a knowledge and passion of trap shooting to students, with a commitment to excellence and bringing glory to God.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall administration and organization of this club sport.
  • Responsible for the scripting and preparation of all practices.
  • Recruiting student athletes including telephone and email communication, as well as off-campus school and home visits when necessary.
  • Responsible for arranging the competition schedule, practice schedules, club travel arrangements, and equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Responsible for developing activities to encourage character development and spiritual growth of the participants.
  • Collaborate with the team captains to organize practices, coordinate travel arrangements, lead meetings, and organize fundraising opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
  • Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.
  • Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable in and have the ability to coach trap shooting.
  • Successful coaching experience at the high school or university level is desired.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to lead a team and establish strong relationships on campus, in the community, and with parents, alumni and other fiends of the university.
