Job description

Summary

The Safety Manager plays a critical role in protecting our people, supporting our projects, and strengthening our safety culture across the organization. This position partners closely with field leaders, project teams, and corporate leadership to ensure work is performed safely, responsibly, and in compliance with all regulatory requirementswhile reinforcing the belief that safety is a shared responsibility and a core company value.

The Safety Manager balances field presence with strategic oversight, providing practical guidance, coaching, and accountability to help teams plan work safely and go home healthy every day.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Champion a proactive, people-first safety culture build on trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a visible safety leader in the field, building strong relationships with Project Teams, Superintendents, and other site safety professionals.
  • Coach and support field leadership in leading safety conversations, observations, and planning safe construction-related activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies aligned with Cal and Fed OSHA, occupational health standards, and the companys core values.
  • Support the development and execution of site-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across all departments to identify hazards and create safety awareness at the sites and offices.
  • Report on audit results and provide corrective action recommendations as needed.
  • Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis techniques to determine underlying issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Track, analyze and report incidents, near misses, and safety metrics.
  • Partner with leadership to implement lessons learned and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate written reports related to safety incidents, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide first aid and CPR classes as needed; coordinate emergency response procedures.
  • Demonstrate tactful, mature and professional demeanor, with exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
  • Work closely with Operations, HR, Risk Management, and Project Management to align safety efforts with business objectives.
  • Stay informed of changes in OSHA and other relevant laws to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 (OSHA 500/510 or equivalent a plus).
  • Professional safety certification (e.g. CSP, ASP, CHST) preferred.
  • Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 30 Certification are highly desirable.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to analyze root causes of incidents efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for training & development purposes.
  • Experience in training staff on safety procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
