JOB SUMMARY

This position exists to facilitate registration with patient flow and provide transportation both to and from the IHB clinics while directing staff to deliver good customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the registration and transportation departments within Indian Health Board.
  • Responsible for staff development, personnel management, scheduling, performance reviews, training and other tasks associated with managing personnel.
  • Responsible for assuring accurate current demographic and billing information in the computer records and patient charts.
  • Ensure accurate insurance verification.
  • Backup coverage for registration and transportation.
  • Responsible for accurate schedules for all departments in Epic.
  • Maintain accurate cash receipts.
  • Develop and implement registration workflows.
  • Lead department with implementation and maintaining of the electronic health system.
  • Lead quality improvement activities within department.
  • Resolve multifaceted concerns of patients and providers.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance is relevant.
  • Annually review policies and procedures and update as needed.
  • Coordinate and work with other departments in regard to registration/transportation departments.
  • Training staff on current procedures and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and respect for people of diverse cultures.
  • Knowledge of metro freeway and street systems, preventive auto maintenance, community resources and agencies.
  • Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team and interact with people of different age levels and backgrounds.
  • Possess good organizational, planning and communication skills while working in a busy environment with deadlines and constraints.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-year degree a plus
  • 2+ year's experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with electronic health records preferably with EPIC
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid Minnesota's driver's license with no moving violations within the past 36 months.
  • Experience with the Native American community
  • Process Improvement experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Central Registration- The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Transportation - The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of children up and in excess of 50 pounds. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations requiring a range of safety and other precautions.
