Role Description
Arcadis is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Transportation Planning Intern to join our innovative and collaborative team in Irvine, CA. As part of our interdisciplinary Mobility Advisory Team-including planners, engineers, data analysts, and modelers, you will gain practical experience while supporting transportation projects at local, regional, national, and international levels.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about developing sustainable transportation solutions that enhance mobility and improve quality of life in communities. You'll work alongside experienced professionals on projects involving transportation planning, public transit, active transportation, and multimodal integration.
Role Accountabilities
As a Transportation Planning Intern, you will:
  • Support data collection and analysis tasks under the guidance of experienced planners and engineers.
  • Assist in preparing planning reports, deliverables, and project documentation to meet Arcadis and client standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and project managers to organize documents and deliver projects.
  • Participate in client, stakeholder, and public engagement meetings to observe and contribute to discussions as appropriate.
  • Contribute to research on best practices, new technologies, and innovative approaches in transportation planning.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in civil or transportation engineering, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in transportation and/or urban planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, or databases is a plus.
  • Exposure to transportation modeling or analysis software (e.g., Synchro, Vissim, Visum, Cube, Sidra) is an advantage but not required.
