Job description

The Job The Fleet Management Department is recruiting for a Motor Pool Specialist who performs various tasks relating to the performance of support functions including, monitoring the utilization, control and disposition of vehicles in the County fleet; and preparing, compiling and maintaining data, records and reports. The County also offers an alternative Modified Benefits Option (MBO) that provides a wage differential. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment. Shift: Incumbents may be required to work day, evenings, or night shifts, to meet departmental needs, as required by the Department.

License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Incumbents must obtain and maintain a valid California Class B driver license within six (6) months of hire. The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates drug testing of all employees in jobs requiring a class B or higher driver license.

Prior to hire, employees must pass a medical examination and drug test. Employees are subject to random drug testing as well as drug testing following accidents and upon reasonable suspicion.. Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future

Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment. Minimum Requirements Experience: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working with vehicle registration, fleet credit card system, or vehicle data base management. Note: Job duties must be clearly detailed on the work experience section of the application.

Desired Qualifications Experience working in a Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) is desirable. Selection Process Examination Procedure: There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the information provided in the Application and the Supplemental Questionnaire. You are encouraged to include detailed descriptions of your qualifying experience and skills, as only the most highly qualified applicants will be referred to the Department.
