DOTD is seeking a Data Collection / Asset Management Engineer to support transportation projects and programs through transportation data collection, asset management systems, data analysis, reporting, and development of products that support data-driven transportation decisions. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.

No prior engineering experience is required - training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series. Positions are located in East Baton Rouge Parish, and reports to the Engineer 6/Equipment Engineer. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Depending on level and assignment, Engineer Intern Applicant-Engineer Intern 2 may: Performs or supports transportation data collection, analysis, reporting, or asset management activities. Uses databases, mapping tools, data systems, or other technical applications to support transportation decision-making. Prepares or reviews reports, datasets, dashboards, maps, or technical products related to transportation assets.

Supports development, maintenance, or improvement of asset management systems and data collection processes. Coordinates with DOTD sections, districts, consultants, and stakeholders to gather, validate, or report transportation data. Evaluates data quality, completeness, and usability for planning, programming, maintenance, or policy decisions.

Assists with performance-based analysis, trend review, or transportation system reporting. Provides technical support related to data-driven transportation decisions Position Specific Details: Career Progression: This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, or Engineer Intern 2. Compensation: The following reflects the beginning biweekly salary for each level.

A Special Entrance Rate (SER) may apply to qualifying positions. Engineer Intern Applicant - $1,923.20 biweekly Engineer Intern 1 - SER at $2,115.20 biweekly Engineer Intern 2 - SER at $2,263.20 biweekly Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a job appointment or probational appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months

If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probational appointment in the future. Upcoming Graduates: Applications will be accepted from applicants who are within 90 days of graduation. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon verification and confirmation that the applicant has received a qualifying degree.
