Job Description ($100,000 to $140,000)

We are currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation) to lead the transportation engineering services in the Memphis TN region with the goal of driving business growth, operational excellence, and project delivery success for local and regional clients. The ideal candidate is a “seller-doer” with experience in pursuing business opportunities while leading and supervising a multi-discipline team. The Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation) will have an active role in business development for the Memphis office and will be empowered to grow the transportation engineering business and add backlog through new and existing clients.

Job Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited school (a master’s degree in civil engineering is a plus.
  • 10+ Years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Current Professional Engineering registration in the State of Mississippi OR current Professional Engineer another U.S. State with the ability to successfully obtain registration in the State of Mississippi within one year from date of application submittal to SOL.
  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with internal and external partners including clients, sub consultants and utility companies.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Very organized, dependable, and professional.
  • Experience with mandatory/permitting at federal, state, regional, county, and local levels is a plus.
  • Proficiency at producing construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation.

Job Duties

  •  The Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation) leads and manages roadway design projects and project delivery teams from concept through completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, and within budget. This includes the design, analysis, and production of complex roadways for interstate, bridge, and surface transportation design projects.
  • Serves as the Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
  • Develops and manages office and project-level budgets ; to include establishing and enforcing systems requirements, responsibilities and standards supporting the financial success of SOL.
  • Develops and executes Business Development initiatives and activities to identify and capture new business opportunities and clients while retaining existing clients and contracts for SOL.
  • Technical execution and management of assigned programs and projects, including; developing, championing, managing, and maintaining project management plans, quality requirements, procedures, and goals as required by both SOL and our clients.
  • Develop, manage and successfully execute comprehensive project management plans that include risk assessments and management plans, quality management (QA/QC) plans, change management plans, schedules, budgets, communication plans, and reporting for potential opportunities, projects and business initiatives.
